The important design choice is evidential discipline. A plausible answer is insufficient: the reader needs the authority, relevant passage and a way to check whether the source supports the conclusion.
System design
The following structure makes the project concept inspectable and defines the implementation to demonstrate.
What would prove it
Use a reviewed set of New Zealand legal research questions and score whether each citation exists, supports the associated statement and reflects the relevant version. Include questions the collection cannot answer.
The next complete milestone
The next credible milestone is a documented citation audit with examples of correct answers, refusals and known coverage gaps. The interface must distinguish research assistance from a verified legal opinion.
